Upland, CA – The community, friends and family are invited to attend a Sunrise Worship Service in celebration of Resurrection with Victory Community Church (VCC) of Upland, and Community Church of God Pomona, Pomona, CA.
The Joint Sunrise Worship Service will start at 6:00 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019 guest speaker Pastor Yvonne Pollard will bring a dynamic message.
In 1969, Macon and Yvonne Pollard moved to Pomona from Compton, California. They wanted a stable environment for their 6 sons and Sis. Pollard’s teenage sister.
Pastor Pollard began as a volunteer, assisted by her husband, in many programs with Pomona Unified School District, before becoming an employee of Marshall Middle and Ganesha Senior High schools in various capacities.
The family served as members of Community Church of God under the leadership of Rev. Warren Anderson.
After many years of faithful and dedicated service, Rev. Pollard was installed as the Pastor of The Community Church of God Pomona in 1983, by the late Bishop B. Reid. Together they have Co-Pastored for the last 36 years.
Pastor Pollard always looked for opportunities to minister to others. She and the family would minister in convalescent hospitals, juvenile’s facilities on Sunday mornings, Chino Men’s Prison with Chaplain Banks and even state hospitals.
To encourage other women, she initiated a yearly Pre-Mother’s Day Breakfast in 1982. For thirty-three years, women from every walk of life dressed in their best and dined in the grandest venues from Orange County to every hotel in the Inland Valley. Every individual was acknowledged, loved and given beautiful gifts.
She also began “God Gotcha Covered Blanket Ministry”. Hundreds of hand-made blankets created by her are in almost every state. Blankets were provided to the victims of Katrina and also to the homeless in Pomona.
Pastor Pollard committed her life to Christ at the age of 15 years old and has not wavered in her commitment to her husband of fifty-eight years, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, church family and most of all to the Lord Jesus Christ. She has spoken in countless seminars and conventions.
The week leading up to Easter Sunday is called Passion Week, which is celebrated as one of the most sacred times of the year for the church and Christians.
Attendees will be presented with a powerful story, a tremendous word, and an impeccable worship service. The community is invited to bring your family and friends.
Following the service, attendees will enjoy a bountiful breakfast prepared for all by the Hospitality Ministry of VCC.
Victory Community Church will then have their own Senior Pastor Tommy Morrow to bring forth the Word during morning worship service at 9:30 a.m. The community is invited to attend both services.
