Adrienne Konigar-Macklin, Esq. to be a Keynote Honoree at NCNW-PVS’s 2019 Women of Extraordinary Achievement Awards

Pomona, CA– Uncommon Women on Common Ground will be the theme as hundreds of the Inland Valley’s most influential business, political and community leaders will be in attendance will come together as the National Council of Negro Women – Pomona Valley Chapter presents their 2019 Spring Membership Luncheon and Women of Extraordinary Achievement Awards. The event will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Doubletree by Hilton Claremont; 555 West Foothill Boulevard, Claremont, California.

“The purpose of the event is to showcase the NCNW-PVS’s extraordinary work and service to the Pomona Valley Community, while celebrating the exemplary achievements of women,” said Linda D. Wright Lee, NCNW-PVS President. “All those in attendance are destined to leave nothing short of motivated, educated and inspired by our phenomenal keynote honorees, Adrienne Konigar-Macklin, Board Member, PUSD Board of Education and Dr. Krystana Walks-Harper, Director, Pupil Personnel Services, PUSD.

 

In addition to keynote honorees Attorney Macklin and Dr. Harper, the honorees celebrated on that day will include Dr. Soraya Coley, President, Cal Poly University, Pomona; Hilda Kennedy, AMPAC Business Capital and First Lady, Mt. Zion Church of Ontario; LaQuetta Bush-Simmons, Pastor, Immanuel Praise Fellowship, Rancho Cucamonga; Dr. Helen Johnson, Vice President, NCNW National, Washington, DC; and Dr. Agnes Moreland Jackson, Board Member, PUSD Board of Education (ret.) & Professor, Pitzer College, Claremont; along with NCNW-PVS Teen Members Kennedy Sparks, Rakiyah Wilson and Taelen Cobb.

 

Ms. Konigar- Macklin is a native of Compton, California, and a graduate of UC Irvine, UC Hastings College of Law.

 

She has practiced over 32 years and is currently General Counsel for San Diego County Office of Education. She was appointed as an Administrative Law Judge in 2010 for the State of California.

She has devoted her legal career to protecting and securing the civil rights of children in the educational system and has been at the forefront of addressing educational inequities.  

She is in her fourth term as an elected school board member in the Pomona Unified School District.

She is a past President of the Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, President of the California Association of Black Lawyers, Commissioner on the Los Angeles County Commission on Families and Children, and on the Board of Advisors on the Mervyn Dymally Foundation/California State University Dominguez Hills.

She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and is currently the Western Area Chair of Ethics and Standards for The Links, Incorporated.

 

She is married to Anthony Macklin and has two adult children. She is a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church family where she shares strong ties to the community and her faith.

 

Attorney Macklin lives her life inspired by the biblical scripture, “2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

 

The National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) is a non-profit organization founded by Mary McCloud Bethune in 1935 with the mission to advance the opportunities and the quality of life for African American women, their families, and communities. Their mission is to lead, advocate for and empower women of African descent, their families and communities.

 

Tickets for the 2019 Spring Membership Luncheon & Women of Extraordinary Achievement Awards are $55 each.
