Upland, CA—Victory Community Church (VCC) of Upland, CA is pleased to announce the commencement of the 1st group of community members and lay ministers who have completed the first module of four modules of the Crisis, Palliative Care, Grief and Chaplaincy Training.
Please join the graduates, their families and the community in celebrating this commencement and historic occasion on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.
The Commencement speaker will be Dr. Minnie Claiborne, a Speaker, Therapist, Author, Trainer, and Life Coach. Dr. Claiborne is concerned with the whole person: Spirit, Soul and Body. Her goal is to help people uncover their true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating.
The first 6 weeks of training was facilitated by local Chaplain Jackie Dennis who offers her support to individuals, groups, and organizations that need assistance in dealing with Critical Incident Stress Management, Domestic Violence, Grief, Loss & Trauma, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress, Suicide, Human Trafficking, Disaster Relief and so much more. A special guest that attended one of the sessions was a Kaiser Ontario Hospital Chaplain who came to share some of his experiences of being a Chaplain.
VCC hosted and partnered with Chaplain Dennis in collaboration with the Pomona Police Department Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) for this much needed community event.
The weekly classes were coordinated by Joann Washington and assisted by Ardelphia Drinkard and Nina Erving. The class was very interested in all the information given, reading material, active scenarios and interaction among the attendees.
“Given the highly tragic occurrences that seem to bombard us from all sides in our world today, our community is in dire need of trained Chaplains,” said Kim Anthony Morrow, President of Urban Philanthropy and First Lady of Victory Community Church.
