Standing Room Only as Urban Philanthropy Kicks Off Distinguished Speaker Series with CCN Analyst Areva Martin

UPLAND, CA — “Make it Rain: How to Use the Media to Revolutionize Your Business and Brand” was the topic of discussion as Urban Philanthropy Institute kicked off their 2018-2019 Distinguished Speaker Series with Analyst Areva Martin, CNN Analyst, Award-winning Civil Rights Attorney, Advocate, Commentator, Author, TV Host & Producer. The event took place on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Inland Valley News, in Upland, California.

Martin, who is also the Founder of Special Needs Network, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that uses grassroots organizing and policy advocacy to meet the needs of kids with autism and developmental disabilities in underserved communities, serves as a CNN Analyst and Cohost of the newly debuting CBS talk show, “Face the Truth,” is also author of a book of the same name, “Make it Rain: How to Use the Media to Revolutionize Your Business and Brand.”

“It’s happening right in front of you every day,” Martin explained to a standing room only crowd of Inland Empire urban professionals and community leaders. “Guest experts on TV, radio, podcasts, blogs, and live streaming are getting local and national exposure for their business and brand that they could never have afforded to reach with ads.”

The program was moderated by Kim Anthony, Founder and CEO of the Urban Philanthropy Network, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that is dedicated to creating positive change in urban communities through nonprofit capacity building, leadership development and networking for the people who serve them. Through an in-depth interview-style presentation followed by an question and answer session, Martin discussed how she has successfully engaged the media to build a huge platform that expanded the influence and power of her brand exponentially, including appearances on Dr. Phil, Anderson Cooper 360, The Doctors, CNN, MSNBC, FOX. Ms. Martin also shared inside secrets on how she has virtually eliminated the need of a marketing budget for her thriving law firm and non-profit organization while securing her place as one of America’s most sought-after thought leaders.

More than 100 people lined-up for personally autographed copies of Make it Rain: How to Use the Media to Revolutionize Your Business and Brand.”

“I am excited to have my book signed,” said Darnysha Carter.  “But I really can’t wait to get home to devour all of the wisdom that Ms. Martin is sharing on what insiders know about the power of media appearances to revolutionize my business and brand and get our core message out to the people who need it most.”

“We are absolutely thrilled about the wealth of knowledge that Areva Martin shared with us, said Anthony. “The inside information on how to gain positive visibility our organization’s “message to the masses” was nothing short in invaluable,” said Anthony. “Our organizations learned how to match their brands to the right audience and media venues, craft pitches that producers can’t resist, jump on breaking news shows, and pivot and speak in soundbites like the pros.  They also learned how to amplify every interview with social media, turn appearances into a platform and become a rainmaker for the businesses and causes that they care about most.”
