Nationwide — The Black AI Consortium has been launched to encourage dialogue and collaboration among members from diverse backgrounds within the African diaspora. Efforts include curating relevant content, hosting educational events, and facilitating mentorship opportunities to address the specific needs of the community while advancing the understanding and application of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
The Black AI Consortium is founded by Dr. Jimmy J. Davies, founder of Every.Black and the Dr. Joe L. Dudley, Sr. Legacy Project, Dr. Dannielle Joy Davis, Full Professor at Saint Louis University and Rev. Dr. Philippe SHOCK Matthews, Research Scientist in Africana Phenomenology. These esteemed individuals have come together to harness the power of AI to uplift and empower the global African diaspora.
The mission of The Black AI Consortium is to cultivate a vibrant and supportive community where individuals of the African diaspora can share experiences, knowledge, and resources related to artificial intelligence. The aim is to facilitate meaningful discussions, collaborations, and learning opportunities that address and resolve specific economic, social, and educational challenges within the community. Through advocacy, education, and networking, the Consortium seeks to democratize AI technology to ensure it is a tool for empowerment and progress within the diaspora.
This innovative venture aims to make a significant impact in the AI community, and everyone is invited to join in this historic endeavor. Together, the Black AI Consortium and its members can bridge the digital divide and create a more equitable future through AI.
