New Footage Reveals More Details in Jehue Middle School Altercation

Newly released footage provides additional context to a recent altercation at Rialto Unified School District (RUSD) Jehue Middle School that left a 14-year-old Black girl unconscious.

The extended video, shared by the Ahmed Bellozo Show, begins 17 seconds before the original viral clip and is filmed from a different angle.

The footage appears to show the female student striking a male student at least twice in the head with a metallic water bottle before it falls from her grasp.

This portion of the video reflects the account of events as reported by the Colton Police Department, as well as and the first-hand accounts from students who were present in the classroom during the altercation.

The male student then holds her back at arm’s length by her wrists. She appears to push-kick him, possibly to escape his grip, and the two move to another part of the room, aligning with where the initial viral video begins.

During the collective 1 minute and 22 seconds of available footage of the incident, no adult physically intervenes, though one student appears to attempt to stop the fight.

Even as the female student lies unconscious, no staff member approaches her to assist for the remaining duration of the available footage.

The incident, which occurred on March 10, has led to public outcry over the lack of intervention by the substitute teacher.

Colton police stated that both students were cited. The female student was cited for assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly striking the boy with the bottle and the male student was cited for misdemeanor battery.

A RUSD spokesperson said safety officers were called to respond to the student fight and the case has been forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office, Juvenile Division, for review.

The community continues to debate school safety, intervention policies and the racial dynamics of the incident as the investigation unfolds.

Inland Valley News will continue to follow this story as more information becomes available.
