National Black Grads Honors 2026 Scholarship Recipients

San Bernardino, CA — National Black Grads (NBG) proudly announces its 2026 Scholarship Recipients, recognizing outstanding students across the Inland Empire for their academic achievement, leadership, and resilience.

Highlighted recipients include Dorion English of Colony High School (100 Black Men of the Inland EmpireScholarship), Vincent Warsaw of Aquinas High School (I AM Gifted Foundation Scholarship), Tyrone Lee of Canyon Springs High School (Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Mu Xi Lambda Scholarship), Aniya Nix of Bloomington High School (IE Black Chamber of Commerce Scholarship), Makayla Austin of Wilmer Amina Carter High School (Flavia Buffong Remembrance Scholarship), Jayden Glover of Valley View High School (National Pan-Hellenic Council Scholarship), and Jazz Williams of Grand Terrace High School (Young Women’s Empowerment Scholarship).

The scholarship celebration, led by Jonathan and Keynasia Buffong, brought together families, educators, and community leaders in a program rooted in culture and community. The event included an invocation, the Black National Anthem, and formal scholarship presentations supported by local partners and organizations.

The celebration continues on Sunday, May 3, 2026, with the 15th Annual Inland Empire Black Graduate Recognition Ceremony at California State University, San Bernardino. The program will feature a dynamic processional with the Xsplosive Drill Team, spoken word performances, cultural tributes, educator recognition, and the symbolic Kente Stole Ceremony honoring graduating students.

A special highlight of the ceremony will be a featured presentation by Dr. Anthony Blacksher, whose message is expected to inspire graduates as they prepare for their next chapter.

For 15 years, National Black Grads has served more than 6,400 students, engaged over 43,000 participants, and awarded nearly $500,000 in scholarships, continuing to build pathways of opportunity for students across the Inland Empire.
