A coalition of faith ,civil rights leaders and parents demand justice for the African American female child who is a student at Jehue Middle School . (We will not name her publicy). She was viciously assaulted and knocked unconscious in class by her Latino classmate , who stood over her laughing as his classmates yelled out racial slurs and the
N word against her.
The Colton police department has recommended felony charges be filed against the African American female student to the San Bernardino District Attorney office .
“Our coalition of concerned activists call for all charges to be dismissed by law enforcement against this child. She was knocked unconscious by a Latino classmate. She’s the actual victim. She had every right to defend herself from a male classmate who was much taller and heavier. The video of her assault clearly shows she’s fighting for he life.
The Colton police department should be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves. The video of her assault has gone viral. The Colton police department wants the District Attorney’s office to charge the victim with a felony. This is a continuation of racist implicit bias against African American children by law enforcement and were going to show the entire nation their hypocrisy and how backwards the Colton police department is.
We believe that Colton police chief Anthony Vega deserves better police work from his officers. We know the community deserves better. ” Stated Najee Ali Senior organizer Los Angeles Metropolitan Churches. — Pastor Samuel J. Casey, M.A.
Executive Director of C.O.P.E and Senior Pastor of New Life Christian Church: who has been at the forefront in addressing hate, racism and intolerance as he continues to call for racial healing. Also stated.
“We call upon San Bernardino County Chief of Probation Tracy Reece and District Attorney Jason Anderson to take a stand for justice and reject the unjust charges placed against the young Black Female scholar at Jehue Middle School in the Rialto Unified School District. This case highlights a systemic failure in our educational and judicial systems, as the protocols established through Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) were not fully adhered to.
It is imperative that we prioritize the well-being and future of our students over punitive measures that only perpetuate cycles of injustice. We urge our leaders to uphold the principles of equity and support for our youth by dismissing these charges and ensuring that all students receive the fair treatment they deserve.”
