Los Angeles, CA — A fierce wildfire erupted in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles on Tuesday, rapidly consuming approximately 3,000 acres and prompting the evacuation of over 30,000 residents.

The blaze, fueled by strong Santa Ana winds with gusts reaching up to 100 mph, has destroyed numerous homes and structures.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported that the fire’s intensity and speed due to high winds have made containment efforts exceedingly challenging, with the fire currently at 0% containment.

Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency, mobilizing additional resources to combat the flames.

The LAFD has called in off-duty firefighters and firefighters from around the state to assist, as the rapid spread of flames has rendered several roads impassable, forcing some residents to evacuate on foot.

The Getty Villa, a renowned cultural landmark, has also been threatened by the advancing flames, with parts of its grounds catching fire.

In response, several film studios have canceled premieres, and local schools have been closed or relocated to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning and a Red Flag Warning for the Los Angeles area, indicating that the dangerous combination of strong winds and low humidity will persist, potentially exacerbating the wildfire situation.

Residents in neighboring areas, including Malibu and Santa Monica, have been advised to remain on high alert, as the fire threatens to spread further.

In addition to the Pacific Palisades fire, other wildfires have ignited in Southern California, including the Eaton Fire in Altadena and the Hurst Fire in Sylmar, collectively straining firefighting resources and prompting widespread evacuations.

Authorities are urging all residents in affected and surrounding areas to adhere to evacuation orders and to stay informed through official channels.
