B. Valentine Sets October Release Date for “Lovin’ You” Single & EP

Song launches music return, raises breast cancer awareness, and pays homage to Minnie Riperton.

Los Angeles, CA — B. Valentine, the former frontwoman of the soul-funk-jazz band The Rebirth, unveils her new single “Lovin’ You” on October 7, via Matcha Entertainment, LLC. “Lovin’ You” was recorded between 2018 and 2022 and is the official kickoff to B. Valentine’s return as a soloist. After years of supporting her husband, Eric Valentine, to chart-topping Billboard success, together they serve as the track’s sole producers.

“One of the smoothest voices around!”

~ Ryan Donelly (Soundscape Magazine)

“Her voice is distinct and sweet; what sets it apart is a smidgen of chafe, almost a pebbly undertone!” ~ Randy Radic (Contact Music)

“… Unassuming, yet sweetheart vocals… it just carries you off on a cloud.”

~ L. Michael Gipson (Soultracks)

“Engaging vocal chops – specifically an equal ability to sing howling blues and saccharine pop love songs.” ~ Ralph Greco (shortandsweetnyc.com)

Putting her spin on Minnie Riperton’s timeless classic covered by so many, B. Valentine’s rendition is a melodic marriage between smooth jazz and orchestral soul sounds, sprinkled with blissful contemporary pop sensibilities. Fans will hear her scaling range, effortlessly transitioning from light and airy vocals to dynamic whistle tones, which most laud the song for. The EP will include a smooth jazz version featuring the captivating sax tones of nine-time GRAMMY nominee Dave Koz.

“Lovin’ You” not only serves as B. Valentine’s musical reintroduction, but her cover is one of purpose. She is releasing the single in observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October). Simultaneously, “Lovin’ You” is also her way of honoring and sharing her appreciation for the late Minnie Riperton, who got her wings at age 31 after battling the disease.

“[Minnie] helped raised funds to help give women at risk of developing breast cancer what they deserve; though  she is no longer with us, her ability to give love and life continues through her music and her legacy.” ~ B. Valentine

Inspired by Minnie’s legacy, B. Valentine also formed #TeamLovinYou to join the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Minnie’s hometown of Chicago. The event takes place on October 29, 2022. Those who donate through #TeamLovinYou receive a free download of her “Lovin’ You” EP. Through this musical and philanthropic endeavor, B. Valentine aims to show breast cancer patients, families, and survivors there is an entire community by their side in the fight to end cancer forever!
