Andrea Dutton
The Chaffey College Governing Board provisionally appointed retired Chaffey College professor Andrea Dutton to fill an open vacancy in Governing Board District 1, effective Nov. 10.
Dutton devoted 37 years of dedicated service to the college as a full-time faculty member and program director for Chaffey’s Radiologic Technology Program (Rad Tech) before retiring in 2019. During her tenure, she was actively involved on campus, serving on the Chaffey Latino Faculty and Staff Association and the President’s Equity Council.
“Andrea Dutton brings a wealth of experience serving higher education and the community at large,” said Chaffey College Governing Board President Gloria Negrete-McLeod. “I am confident her appointment to the Board will benefit the students of Chaffey College for years to come.”
A long-time advocate for community college student success, she and her late husband, former Senator Bob Dutton, established two scholarships benefiting Chaffey’s Latino student population and students within the Rad Tech program in 2020.
“We are grateful to welcome Ms. Dutton to the Chaffey College Governing Board,” said Chaffey College Superintendent/President Henry D. Shannon. “Her dedication to Chaffey College and student success over the years has made a tremendous impact on generations of students in our region. She brings with her a wealth of experience and passion that will surely be a benefit to the Chaffey community.”
Dutton currently serves on the San Antonio Regional Hospital Board of Trustees, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Council Board and the Uplanders Club Board.
She has received numerous recognitions for her volunteer work in the community, including being named a 2009 Educator of the Year by the Inland Empire Hispanic Image Awards and Woman of the Year for the 31st Senate District.
“It is an honor to have the opportunity to represent District 1 on the Chaffey College Governing Board,” Dutton said. “For many years, Chaffey College and its mission have been close to my heart and central to my life’s work. I am looking forward to contributing to the college’s extraordinary efforts to serve students of the Inland Empire.”
Dutton is a resident of Rancho Cucamonga.
If voters from Governing Board District 1 do not successfully petition for a special election within 30 days of November 10th, 2025, Dutton will be sworn in at the December 18, 2025 Chaffey College Governing Board meeting.
