The Riverside City College Marching Tigers, representing Riverside City College, have been named first place winners in the Division 2/3 category of the 2025 Metallica Marching Band Competition – Collegiate Edition. The announcement was made by Metallica as part of their annual nationwide challenge celebrating innovative marching band performances interpreting the iconic music of Metallica.

The Marching Tigers earned $40,000 in prizing, with awards supporting instruments, equipment, and program development, a significant boost for the college’s marching arts program and student musicians.

This prestigious national competition invites college bands from across the United States to submit videos showcasing original arrangements and creative field performances. This year’s event included prize categories for Division 1, Division 2/3, and a fan-favorite award.

“We are proud of the Riverside City College Marching Tigers for their outstanding performance and artistic dedication,” said an RCC representative. “This achievement speaks to the talent, hard work, and innovative spirit of our students and faculty.”

The Metallica Marching Band Competition is part of a broader initiative to support music education and recognize the cultural contributions of marching bands nationwide. Winners receive instruments and resources provided by Metallica and competition partners including Sweetwater, Tama, Hal Leonard, KHS America, and more.
