Brandy Clark, the newest member of the Moreno Valley School Board, will begin her term on Dec. 14.
Clark is a 25-year-resident of Moreno Valley. She was elected to the position in a special election last month.
According to Ballotpedia, Clark beat out two other candidates to win the race. She received a total of 1,678 votes.
Clark, who is a financial administrator at the University of Riverside, has also been an active member of the community. She has been involved in the Moreno Valley Pop Warner program and served as a cheer coach and team mom. She has also volunteered with a program that helps children who have hemophilia.
Moreno Valley Schools Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora welcomed Clark’s appointment to the board.
“Brandy Clark is a dedicated parent and education leader who is proud to serve her community by joining our school board,” said Kedziora in a press release. “We are so happy to welcome her to our Moreno Valley Unified School District family.”
Cleveland Johnson, vice president of the school board, also welcomed Clark.
“We are excited to have Ms. Brandy Clark on our team,” said Johnson in a press release. “She is an active member of the Moreno Valley community, and is a proud parent of students attending our schools.”
Clark said she was looking forward to the challenges of being a school board member.
“After a difficult year, our top priority needs to be the safety of our students, teachers, and staff as we prepare for the reopening of our schools. I’m committed to our teachers and staff, so they have the resources needed to provide all students a high-quality and equitable education,” said Clark in a statement posted to her campaign website.
