Inland Valley News Sparks Crucial Dialogue with Inaugural "Stop the Hate" Community Forum

In an unprecedented move, Inland Valley News has launched the “Stop the Hate Inland Valley Community Forums,” a series of community roundtable events aimed at addressing and curtailing the rise of hate crimes in Southern California’s Inland Empire. The forum series kicked off with influential voices from the Native American community, including distinguished professors Dr. Hannah Kivalahula-Uddin, Dr. Jacqueline E Romano, and Dr. James Fenelon of California State University San Bernardino.

Dr. Kivalahula-Uddin’s extensive experience in P-12 Indian Education and her research on Native American Culturally Responsive Education Program Evaluation have positioned her as a vital contributor to the forum. Dr. Romano brings her expertise in English language literacy and ethical decision-making in educational leadership to the table. Dr. Fenelon, a prolific author and advocate for indigenous issues, enriches the dialogue with his intersectional analysis of race, capitalism, and colonialism.

The “Stop the Hate” forums, supported by the State of California, facilitate discussions that not only celebrate the cultural diversity of the Inland Valley but also foster an environment of understanding and respect. These gatherings serve as a beacon of awareness, providing resources for reporting hate crimes and aiding in the collective effort to build a community that stands firmly against hatred.

This resource is supported in whole or in part by funding provided by the State of California, administered by the California State Library in partnership with the California Department of Social Services and the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs as part of the Stop the Hate program.
