An Inland Empire legislator is responsible for directing $7 million in federal funds to local projects, according to a press release.
Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) voted in favor of HR 2471. The bill will provide funding to help local families deal with the cost of living, assist vulnerable families and create local jobs.
The projects funded are:
- Inland Empire Technical Trade Center: $1.5 million.
- Downtown Perris Skills Training and Job Placement Center: $1 million.
- Riverside County Early Learning and Literacy Project: $1 million.
- EMWD Mead Valley Water Booster Station Replacement Project: $1 million.
- Parkview Legacy Foundation: $625,000
- Path of Life Ministries Employment Pipeline: $250,000
- UCR Opportunities to Advance Sustainability, Innovation, and Social Inclusion Clean Technology Park: $1.5 million.
- Consortium of Early Learning Services Childcare Expansion Project: $175,000
HR 2471-Funding for the People allocates $1.5 trillion in discretionary spending.
“H.R. 2471 is an incredibly important piece of legislation, as it helps middle-class families, creates good-paying jobs, tackles the climate crisis, and makes healthcare more affordable. What I’m most proud of is the $7 million that will fund community development projects across Riverside County,” said Takano in a press release. “I have been working to secure this funding because I am confident that these projects will transform our neighborhoods and improve the lives of my constituents. These projects address fundamental needs like the need to modernize our infrastructure, the need to support our young people, and the need to develop our growing workforce. I look forward to the positive impact they will have on Riverside County, making it an even better place for all of us.”
The bill has been signed into law by President Joe Biden.
