John Jackson one of the good guys and assistant USC where he coached a parade of great Trojans running backs including Heisman Trophy winners Marcus Allen and Charles White, Ricky Bell, Lynn Cain. Future NFL fullback Mosi Tatupu, Jackson died Thursday. He was 81. The senior Jackson’s son John Jackson, Jr. was an all-star wide receiver and Honor Roll student at USC. The elder Jackson promoted boxing for the late Dr, Jerry Buss at the Fabulous Forum, the House That Jack Kent Cooke billed.

Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans scored an All-Star record of 52 points enroute to the West’s win and MVP honors in his team’s 192-182. The Thunder’s Russell Westbrook pumped in 41 points for the West on an alley-oop lob from Kevin Durant His Former Thunder teammate.

Check This! Don’t be surprised if the CAVs steal a fifth MVP award from Westbrook and Curry.

Stephen Thompson, Jr., the son of former Crenshaw High star by the same name, scored the winning basket and got 31 points on the day. The senior Thompson starred at Syracuse.

Will the New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony and Chicago’s Jimmy Butler survive the trade deadline? Both could remain with their present teams. Only time will tell.
